The King's Birthday

With over one thousand pictures to choose from; here is a tiny selection of our 5 day weekend.

Pursat-Floating Village

Dr Vuthy and his wife and son took us on a boat trip on the Tonle Sap Lake before attending at a wedding in Pursat. This village is part Khmer and part Vietnamese, with both buddhists and christians living together. Like Venice but Khmer-style! On the way back a thunderstorm was gathering overhead...

Traffic on the main... canal?

Gas station

Ian a fellow student joined us on the trip

The Vietnamese are easily recognized by their headwear

Raf aka Shorty (like in the third Indiana Jones movie)

This funny sight...

... had dramatic effects on shorty

The next day Tahawin's brother was getting married and I was asked to "take as many pictures as possible". Here are some of my favourites...

The Best Men

The Bride

Bridesmaid

The Bride and Groom

The MP's organizing the traffic and deterring robbers

The VIP's

Brother and Sister

After the wedding our trip continued via Phnom Penh to Kep, known in colonial times as "Kep-sur-Mer". A very quiet and pleasant seaside town with great seafood! It is also the best point of exit to visit the islands in the bay. By the time we were boarding the small boat to Rabbit Island it was already dark. Our friends (Jules, Marjan, Jasmine, Charlotte and Ingeborg) were also on the Island that night...

On the way to the Kiri Selar cave-pagodas

Landing on Rabbit Island

Lightning over the bay at night

Swimming along the coastline until we spotted our friend's campfire, we crawled out of the water and pretended to having crossed from Kep... à la nage.

Back in PP, noodles before bedtime

Or at bedtime for some...
